Cooking in an Emergency

The method used to cook when the usual utilities are not
available will be influenced by the food you need to prepare. The following tools can be used to cook foods
in an emergency.
If you have MRE's you have the following ways to prepare
them:
Eat cold
Use heating
packs available where MRE's are sold
Placing the
MRE in boiling water
Opening the
MRE and heating in it frying pan
Dehydrated and Freeze dried foods require hot water and/or
cooking in a pan or oven.
Canned food can be eaten cold, open and heated in the can,
heat up in a pan or oven.
Basic food supplies will generally need to be cooked in a
pan or oven.
The following are some of the pieces of cooking equipment
available or usable in an emergency:
Your
propane grill, especially if it has a side burner. Use out doors.
A common
camp stove.
A single
burner camp stove. Note there are many
types, sizes and fuels.
Sterno
Stove
Heating tab
stove
Buddy

Volcano
Stove, you can use wood, charcoal and propane.
Open fire,
you'll need a grill or use an oven rack to hold your pan
Charcoal,
use in the grill or as open fire
Solar oven
Rocket
